Blockchain my Art

After economics, politics and cultural management studies in France and abroad, I began to work in the cultural field in 2014. I settled in Leipzig, Germany, where I co-founded SeaNaps, an international music festival. SeaNaps’ original idea: designing the first blockchain based festival in Europe. This intimate group of work and a self-made solution quickly became an international project, through the cooperation with other European festivals. Together, we founded Blockchain My Art. In this frame, I currently work as a coordinator for — implementations, partnerships and research programs.

Blockchain My Art is a ramified platform and project, surrounding a unique creation: a blockchain-based payment solution, coupled with a set of digital complementary currencies, tailored for cultural events. These two are associated to a mechanism of transparent, immediate and fair redistribution system for all events’ products and tickets sales. Effectively in use since 2017, the solution takes the form of two
mobile applications.

For every product sold in a festival using our system, the value of each purchase is directly and immediately split and sent to defined actors, using what is called a “smart contract”. All identified contributors of the festival (suppliers, contractors, but also artists, volunteers, local associations) get a share on all incoming value indexed on their contribution and agreed on before the event. The Ethereum blockchain is used to automate, register, and display all these actions, at minimum cost and full authenticity.

From this first creation, imagined and handmade in 2016 by a handful of people between Paris and Leipzig and through the joint effort of three festivals (SeaNaps, Todaysart, Les Siestes Electroniques) Blockchain My Art was born. Three axis of work emerged: dissemination (6 festivals in 2019), improvement of the solution (creation of a blockchain consortium, new app features) and a research program (exploring the compatibility between new technologies, alternative economic systems and the music circuit).
